I caught these last year close to the snake river. The females are among the largest of the
Eleodes species, and are surprisingly heavy for a beetle! I have been feeding them dog food, fruits and veggies. Their substrate is coconut fiber, and I recently added some sphagnum moss and some dead leaves. They seem to be pretty easy to breed! Here are some pictures.

They have been doing very good for me, and I hope to keep my colony going for many years to come! Hope you guys enjoy!
I just found one of these in my home town, and I have it in a glass terrarium. It's so cool looking and I want to keep it alive as long as possible. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI actually have an in depth caresheet for this genus, that should cover any care questions you may have! :)
